CODE does... Fashion Week edit, to save you the trouble...

Fashion Week

Fashion Week month is in full swing, and while we’ve only just got used to wearing our winter wardrobe again, we’re already lusting after the looks that are set to be everywhere by the time Spring/Summer 18 rolls around. So if you’re already looking ahead to next season and want to know which beauty trends will be spamming up your Insta in the new year (and which ones you’ll want to leave well alone) then keep reading, as we’ve done all the hard work for you. We’ve watched the shows, taken a peek backstage (it’s a tough job…) and taken note, creating a Fashion Week edit that will have you swooning – not to mention wishing away the winter.

The trend: The ombre red lip

The designer: Helmut Lang

The look: Red lips are a classic look, but next season they’re getting an edgy makeover. At Helmut Lang we saw ‘h-ombre’ red lips – that’s ombre but horizontally, instead of vertically. Think darker towards the outer edge of the lips and lighter inside. The end look should seem raw and imperfect.  Re-create this look using CODE SSL Soft Smooth Lip Liner as your perfect base!

The trend: Flutter lashes

The designer: Dior

The look: Breaking away from the trend for heavily lined eyes, that featured so heavily at Fashion Week’s SS18 shows, Dior showcased a very simple yet beautiful look, that put lashes firmly into the spotlight. Inspired by the 60’s, models sported spidery lashes that were plumped and defined from root to tip. Use CODE FFL Forget Fake Lashes to recreate the look, making sure you use our ‘Roots, Wriggle, Roll’ technique to make sure you get the product right at the root of each lash to give you extra volume and thickness before applying mascara.

The trend: Grown-up glitter

The designer: Anna Sui, Topshop, Peter Pilotto, Ryan Lo

The look: Glitter has grown up. It’s typically a look we keep for summer anyway (our go-to festival style but not great for the office) but with next summer’s glitter getting a little more subdued and subtle, we plan on dipping into this trend sooner. At Anna Sui the look was ethereal, with ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ lines of subtle white shimmer drawn on the face, while at Topshop the look was slightly more overstated- but still limited to a dusting on the outer eyelid. If you also fancy trying this trend sooner than next spring then follow us - we’ll be stealing the look from Ryan Lo’s show: glitter-loaded lashes will take us beautifully through the Christmas period.

The trend: Nineties’ Supermodel

The designer: Moschino

The look: Models at Moschino’s SS18 show wore very prominent dark brown lip liner, with barely-there nude lippie, heavy brows and bronze-sculpted cheekbones in a look that Eva, Linda and Naomi would have been proud of. Try lining lips with CODE SSL Soft Smooth Lip liner, for a perfectly wearable nude line that pays homage to this look.

And the one we’ll leave to the runway…

Imperfect lips: At Antonio Marras, red lipstick was worn either just outside the lip line or just inside (very Marie Antoinette) and at Marco De Vincenzo’s show an orangey red lip looked freshly kissed, muted and smudged. Call us puritans (or maybe we just recognise how badly this trend translates in to the real world..) but we just can’t see ourselves rocking up at the office looking like we let a toddler apply our lippie. If you want to go for this look make sure your lips are plump and smooth with CODE LIP Lip Intense Plumper
