The Making of #GetReal

The Making of #GetReal

For the past few months, we’ve been working so hard on pulling together our new campaign #GetReal and finding new ways to show you what our brand really stands for.

As you probably already know, we love taking our customers on our journey every step of the way so we wanted to share some of stuff that went on behind the camera!

2 days of hard work but so much fun with an awesome team led to us creating some beautiful stills and an awesome video which you can check out here.

We were all totally in love with the location. We found this beautiful old church in Oswestry and we fell in love with it as soon as we saw it, we knew we had to shoot there .. it’s got some serious house party vibes about it!

Our day started at 8am, the set up and model prep for the models took the team a couple of hours. When talking to the makeup artist about how we wanted the models to look, we explained that as a brand we are not about looking fake, we don’t stand for nonsense and have worked to create product that mean you don’t need to look fake to feel good. Each of our customers are unique and we aren’t trying to put them in a box or make them look the same. Emily totally got this and worked with the models to make sure they felt their best while wearing our products and didn’t lose their individuality.

We went for a really classy but edgy vibe. Classic but cool. This campaign was all about telling our story and cutting through the bullsh*t of the beauty industry. We’re not a big corporate, we’re just real women creating premium products.

When briefing the stylist and photographer, we made sure premium, fun, stripped back and real were the main focusses. The stylists brief was to keep everything minimalist chic, the clothes were not a big focus for us; we wanted the focus to be on the girls personalities and the makeup itself.

Both days were so much fun and Lexi had us all laughing all day long, we loved getting to know everyone we were working with, having late night chats and seeing everyone’s party tricks! Natalie did the crab and Julianna even sang for us!

Talking about singing… with such a big team, your music choice is never going to please everyone and it was hilarious watching Sarah and Ellie fight over which playlist to put on next. I think the real winner was when Spice Girls came on though and Nat and Julianna’s dance moves came out!

When choosing who to work with for this project, it was really difficult. We went to loads of different pitches, we visited and talked to people all over the UK to decide who would be the best fit for this campaign. In the end we decided to go for a Chester based agency called Soup; they matched our David and Goliath story so much and we just loved being able to support a small but growing agency that shared our passion. We could have gone with a big London agency like most beauty brands would have done, but I think you’ll know by now… we’re not like most beauty brands!

We’ve got so much more content to keep sharing with you guys so keep your eyes peeled on our social media channels, we’d love to hear what you think.
