Difference Between Waterproof Mascara and Water-Resistant Mascara

Difference Between Waterproof Mascara and Water-Resistant Mascara

I hope you're doing well! Today, I wanted to share some insights with you about the difference between waterproof mascara and water-resistant mascara. It's a common confusion, so I thought you might find it interesting, and let's be honest we don't want panda eyes do we... 😊

Waterproof mascara and water-resistant mascara are both designed to withstand moisture BUT there is a distinction in their performance...:

- Waterproof mascara is formulated to be completely impervious to water. It is ideal for activities where you might come into direct contact with water, like swimming  or diving into a pool. It creates a strong, long-lasting hold that is resistant to smudging or running.

- Waterproof is a heavier formula so it's impossible to get long lasting lift and length as the lashes get weighed down.

- Water-resistant mascara, on the other hand, is designed to repel water to some extent, but it is not entirely waterproof. It can withstand some moisture, such as sweat or rain, without smudging or streaking. However, it may not hold up as well under heavy water exposure like diving or swimming.

There's another important factor to consider, if we naturally produce more oil around our eyes or we love to wear oil based skincare it can cause make up slippage, things like CODE LLE or some light priming powders can help with this.

We decided to make our mascara, CODE VLM, water-resistant; its a good choice because it gives you the best of both worlds, the best long lasting performance as well as no smudges. Unless of course you are a swimmer in which case you have no choice but to go mascara free or water proof.

I hope this helps you. Let me know if you have any other beauty-related questions ❤️

Happy Sunday!

Take care,
Sarah x
