We had a chat with Wonder Woman's makeup artist...

Who else is loving the new Wonder Woman movie? We celebrate female empowerment here at CODE so it’s super exciting to finally see a superhero film with a female lead. Leading Lady Gal Gadot is amazing in the film, she is definitely one to watch!

We were lucky enough to have a chat with the makeup artist behind Gadot’s stunning makeup in the film, the super talented Sarah Brock! Sarah is a hugely successful, award winning makeup artist who has collaborated with many a celebrity, you may have seen her artistry on the cover of OK, or Brides magazine. Head to http://www.sarahbmakeup.co.uk/ to check out her work!

Hey Sarah, what was it like working on Wonder Woman?

It truly was the most amazing experience of my career - working with the most dedicated, smart & incredible Director Patty Jenkins and the most talented actress Gal Gadot. I grew up loving Wonder Woman and the story and action in this film was fantastic, it's an origin story, love story and an epic action adventure - I loved every second of my time with the cast and crew.

What was Gal Gadot like to work with?

Professional, hard working, kind, considerate, loving and beautiful - she truly is Wonder Woman.

What was your inspiration for the makeup in the film?

To bring out Gal's natural beauty - the costume was incredible and we didn't want the makeup to compete with that.

Is there a big difference between doing makeup for magazine shoots and for films?

YES!!! Magazine shoots are a day or 2 days - the movie was nearly 6 months to film and we mostly did 6 day weeks - and the hours are long! There is no similarity at all for me and it was amazing to have the opportunity to experience both - they are totally different industries.

What does a typical working day look like for you?

Every day is different for me - working on a movie is totally different to working on a shoot or a commercial - and then there are days where I will be at my computer writing beauty/ makeup articles or quotes.

What’s your favourite thing about being a makeup artist?

I love everything about my job - I get to make women look and feel beautiful, I get to work with the most amazing, creative people and no day is the same.

If you could offer a word of advice to someone who wants to make it as a makeup artist, what would it be?

Be prepared to work HARD. It won't happen overnight and you have to take every opportunity that comes your way, even if in the beginning it's for free. Study the area of makeup that you want to work in and know the people that are in that industry - social media is great for this.

And finally, what can we expect to see from you in the future?

There are lots of exciting things in the future for me, this year and next year...... watch this space!
