CODE Does…Northern Quarter Graffiti Art
As a Manchester based brand we have so much love for the area. Manchester truly is a place like no other, it has community spirit, a rich culture and is an area full of art and beauty.
As you will most likely know, Manchester was recently hit by an unimaginable tragedy. The city is in mourning for the victims and will be for a long time, but at the same time the community’s strength and refusal to be divided is inspiring many. We wanted to give you a little artistic inspiration to come and visit...
Manchester’s Northern Quarter is one of the city’s most vibrant areas and one of the things this cultural hub is most famous for most famous for is its stunning street art. We thought we would celebrate Manchester by taking a little look at what Northern Quarter graffiti artists have to offer.
Manchester is certainly a place for music lovers, whatever genre you’re into. Upcoming artist Aske P19 pays tribute to Prince with this stunning portrait on Tib Street.
This poignant piece at Brightwell Walk car park, was designed by artist Hyuro with the intention of highlighting the violence and conflict that sadly affects children worldwide.
This colourful Port Street wall also takes on the theme of conflict by depicting two Greek gods fighting. It was designed by Spanish duo PichiAvo as part of The Cities of Hope Festival.
The artist behind these quirky goonies mural on the Outhouse, Qubek, caused a stir when he painted over French artist Aske’s iconic David Bowie mural. As a nod to the Bowie design, Qubek added a lightning bolt to his creation.
Qubek decided however to repaint over the Outhouse yet again with this beautiful Manchester inspired mural, as a way honouring the victims of the recent tragedy. The worker bee motif was originally adopted to represent the hard work of Mancunions during the Industrial Revolution.
This adorable intergalactic pug was painted by graffiti artist Duber on Little Lever Street.
This incredibly detailed bird can be found on gun street. It was created by Brazilian artist Mateus Bailon.
These pieces really stand out to us, but there is so much stunning graffiti art to see in the Northern Quarter, we couldn’t fit it all in one list! We recommend that you take a trip and when you do, make sure to tag us in your snaps...
